This project is implemented by the National Council of the Romanian National Minority (CNMNR) with the support of the Government of Romania, through the Department for Romanians Everywhere. As the project title indicates – “Supporting Digital Education in Romanian Schools in Serbia” – its main objective is to modernize Romanian education by equipping Romanian schools with a set of IT tools, consisting of a smartboard, a video projector, and a laptop.
This is a very special event for the Romanian communities in Iancaid and Sărcia. “Through the Department for Romanians Everywhere, schools where Romanian-language instruction takes place have been provided with educational and office equipment. This will facilitate the learning process in Romanian. It is a true delight for the children, both in kindergarten and primary school. They were very enthusiastic as they familiarized themselves with the new equipment. This is a remarkable achievement — we will continue to modernize Romanian education in Serbia. Of course, this will also help preserve the cultural and national identity of Romanians living in these communities,” stated Minister-Counselor at the Romanian General Consulate in Vršac, Daniel Bala.
This project continues the efforts of previous years. Daniela Radu, the project manager, noted: “In 2020 and 2021, we managed to cover the vast majority of schools, and this project aims to cover about 30 schools, possibly more. The value of this year’s project is 75,400 RON, of which 72,200 RON comes from funding provided by the Department for Romanians Everywhere, with the remainder being the CNMNR’s own contribution.”
The implementation of this project significantly contributes to modernizing the educational process and creating a modern learning environment for Romanian students in Serbia, while strengthening ties with Romania and the continuous support provided by the Romanian state to historical communities abroad.
