Through the project “Modernizing Romanian Education in Serbia”, funded by the Department for Romanians Everywhere and the National Council of the Romanian National Minority, the “Paja Marganović” Elementary School in Deliblata and the “Đura Jakšić” Elementary School in Cuvin have been equipped with a smartboard, video projector, and laptop. The official handover of the teaching materials took place on 17 October.
On this occasion, the two schools were visited by Her Excellency Silvia Davidoiu, Ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Serbia, Daniel Bala, Minister-Counselor at the Romanian General Consulate in Vršac, Daniel Magdu, President of the CNMNR, and Daniela Radu, Project Manager.
The President of CNMNR signed the contract for the handover of teaching materials together with Goran Staniš, Director of “Paja Marganović” Elementary School in Deliblata, and Jelena Divnić, Acting Director of “Đura Jakšić” Elementary School in Cuvin. Romanian language classes with elements of national culture are held at the mentioned elementary schools.
As stated by Daniel Magdu, this project represents the first step in modernizing Romanian education. “For the first time this year, we have also introduced scholarships for students. Soon we will learn whether another project for equipping four additional schools with smartboards, video projectors, and laptops has been approved. If so, every school in Vojvodina where Romanian is taught, in any form, will have at least one smartboard.”
The President of CNMNR emphasized that modernizing schools with interactive boards is highly significant, especially for students living in rural areas. In this way, students will not face major difficulties when continuing their education in urban environments. “If we want to preserve our education, we must adapt it to contemporary conditions,” he stated.
