On the last Sunday of May, Romanians worldwide celebrate the Day of Romanians Everywhere, a special occasion with profound spiritual significance, reaffirming the Christian roots and traditions of the Romanian people.
This year, to mark this important day, the Department for Romanians Abroad organized the “Here-There” Festival in Bucharest from 25–28 May 2023. The event was held in partnership with the Union of Visual Artists of Romania and brought together Romanian artists from both within the country and abroad, spanning diverse creative fields such as art, design, music, literature, and more. Over 300 Romanians from neighboring countries like Moldova, Serbia, and Ukraine, as well as from more distant countries such as Austria, Belgium, Canada, the United Arab Emirates, Germany, Jordan, Ireland, Finland, France, Italy, the United Kingdom, Mexico, the Netherlands, Spain, the USA, Turkey, and others, participated in the festival.
According to the press release from the Department for Romanians Abroad, the “Here-There” Festival was initiated in 2017 by the Presidential Administration with the aim of creating a bond between Romanians at home and abroad, promoting the development of communities and networks that facilitate the exchange of ideas and projects.
This edition of the festival also included representatives from Romanian institutions and organizations in Serbia, including members of the National Council of the Romanian National Minority, representatives of C.P.E. “Libertatea,” the civil sector, as well as writers and literary figures.
The official opening of the series of events dedicated to the Day of Romanians Everywhere – the “Here-There” Festival – took place on Thursday, 25 May, at the National Museum of Art of Romania. At the same venue, a baroque music concert was performed by the “SEMPRE Ensemble.”
