On Sunday, 9 July, the Women’s Association “Etno-Art” from Ofcea proudly hosted the eleventh edition of the annual “Cherry Days” event. The festival was dedicated to the delicious products made from cherries, these appetizing and vitamin-rich fruits being the main attraction of the day.
The “Regina Maria” School in Ofcea became the hub of community life for a few hours with the official opening of the event. The opening program was performed with talent and joy by the children of Ofcea, captivating the audience and amplifying the festive atmosphere.
Ana Popescu, president of the Women’s Association “Etno-Art” in Ofcea, had the honor of opening the event and welcoming distinguished guests. Representatives of the Palilula Municipality were also present, showing their support and interest in this community initiative. The National Council of the Romanian National Minority was represented by Mariana Stratulat, CNMNR member, and Marian Mohan, secretary, who paid tribute to the event and emphasized the importance of traditional cultural values.
Women’s associations from many localities, including Mesici, Coștei, Sărcia, Ofcea, Satu Nou, Starčevo, Kačarevo, Omoljica, and Crepaja, participated actively in the event. Each association impressed the audience with its own exhibition, showcasing unique local products and traditions.
With their attractive and colorful stands, participants offered visitors an unforgettable experience. Delicacies made from fresh cherries, such as jams, syrups, pastries, and refreshing drinks, delighted the senses and fully satisfied the refined tastes of the audience.
The event was not only an opportunity to promote local products and traditions but also a moment for networking and sharing experiences among women’s associations from different communities. It strengthened intercultural ties and fostered new collaborations within this beautiful festival.
“Cherry Days” in Ofcea brought the community together and demonstrated that local traditions and products are a precious heritage worth celebrating and promoting.
We thank the Women’s Association “Etno-Art” from Ofcea for their dedication and hard work in organizing this successful edition, and we look forward to the next gathering full of flavor and beauty.
