The National Council of the Romanian National Minority calls on all political actors not to exploit the tragic event that occurred in Bor. A few days ago, after the tragic event was reported by police officials, we have witnessed certain political parties, unfortunately, once again attempting to gain cheap political points, claiming to defend members of the Romanian national minority. One cannot help but ask: how is it that these parties remember the Romanians only now?
Instead of uniting in grief and condemnation and working together as a society to propose measures to strengthen legal provisions for punishing the perpetrators of such monstrous crimes, these parties have placed Romanians at the center of their political narratives during these days of sorrow, contrary to any logic.
Once again, the National Council of the Romanian National Minority emphasizes that members of the Romanian minority are equal members of this society, participating fully in the police, prosecution, judiciary, executive and legislative authorities, local administration, education system, healthcare system, and the entire social framework. They place their trust in their country and in its highest state officials.
The National Council of the Romanian National Minority condemns the heinous murder of little Danka. We believe that the police and prosecution will handle the case professionally and that the perpetrators will be punished to the fullest extent of the law.
